Job Description

• Manages network elements for DWDM and data primarily in the metro space.  
• This includes monitoring and evaluating capacity utilization for these networks as well as harvesting opportunities where capacity is no longer needed. 

• Prepare network augment plans and specifications, to include gathering field data 
• Submit capacity and harvesting augments as necessary 
• Comfortably creates complex network designs from limited raw sets of data 
• Requires limited direction and guidance for completion of tasks 
• Assures that the most feasible, practical and economical means to complete the work are utilized 
• Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware as well as subcontractor services as needed 
• Encourages open communication and fosters a positive work environment 

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education with 3+ years of relevant experience 
• Skilled in tactical planning and/or engineering 
• Basic engineering background covering SONET, Ethernet & DWDM technologies 
• Basic data/economic, analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Detail oriented with an intense focus on quality 
• Able to overcome various design complexities and challenges 
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, communication and time management skills 

• Familiar with PRO, ASRI, TIRKS and other technical applications of moderate complexity 
• Skilled across multiple platforms with the ability to integrate new technology into existing network 
• Understand and adjust to potential process changes and other requirements 
• Has experience in metro transport planning with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities 
• Leverages their knowledge and skills to deliver major projects within the deadline. 
• Understand the interdependencies of platforms/other departments and how they impact each other 
• Produce communications that are concise and on point with a clear definition of problem statement, requirements, recommendations
