Location: Hybrid – On-site at Tysons, VA

Overview:
Rockwoods is seeking a Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Architect to design and lead enterprise-level marketing automation solutions for one of our prestigious financial services clients. This strategic role requires deep technical expertise in SFMC architecture, cross-cloud integrations, and marketing data ecosystems. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, optimize platform capabilities, and ensure seamless alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Define the architecture and strategy for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ensuring scalable, future-proof solutions.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of marketing automation frameworks across digital channels.
  • Act as the principal advisor for SFMC governance, multi-business unit setup, user roles, and platform security.
  • Architect end-to-end marketing data integrations with platforms like Salesforce Core, Tableau, Snowflake, and Google Analytics.
  • Develop high-impact engagement models, leveraging AMPScript, SQL, APIs, and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with senior marketing, IT, and analytics leaders to drive digital transformation and compliance.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced Salesforce features, including Data Cloud, Loyalty Cloud, and Distributed Marketing.
  • Establish best practices for marketing data management, customer segmentation, and campaign execution.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with CCPA, GLBA, CAN-SPAM, and internal governance standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to cross-functional teams.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in marketing technology roles, with at least 7+ years of hands-on SFMC architecture experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SFMC administration, cross-cloud integrations, and platform scalability.
  • Deep expertise in AMPScript, SQL, SFMC APIs, and multi-cloud connectivity.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer financial services regulations and marketing data compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-scale marketing automation transformations in complex environments.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic advisory skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Salesforce Architect certifications (e.g., Marketing Cloud Consultant, Technical Architect).
  • Expertise in Snowflake, Google Analytics, Tableau, Salesforce CDP, and Loyalty Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Marketo, HubSpot, Eloqua, Adobe Campaign, and enterprise marketing stacks.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or other advanced scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Trello, Asana.
