Job Description
I have a new requirement for the Database Administrator PowerBI and Data Fabric Architect role for the State of Florida, Department of Corrections.
Seeking a Database Administrator with expertise in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric architecture to support our client in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Database Administrator will lead the development, deployment, and governance of enterprise-grade Power BI solutions. In addition to designing high-performance dashboards and reports, the selected candidate will help establish a Power BI Center of Excellence and promote best practices in data governance, metadata management, and semantic modeling.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the enterprise expert on Power BI architecture, reporting, and governance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data visualization solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with business needs.
- Lead and contribute to the formation of a Power BI Center of Excellence.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, metadata management, and semantic models.
- Connect Power BI to diverse data sources (on-premise and cloud-based).
- Configure and monitor Power BI data gateways and refresh schedules.
- Administer and manage Power BI environments, including user access, workspaces, and security settings.
- Provide lifecycle management of Power BI components (patching, updates, capacity planning).
- Monitor performance and optimize Power BI infrastructure and dashboard efficiency.
- Deliver training, documentation, and user support for Power BI adoption across the organization.
- Support Power Platform integration including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Manage multiple environments (Development, Test, Production) with standardized processes.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and data access policies.
- Provide system support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance for data visualization initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, configuration, and support practices.
- Transfer knowledge to internal staff to build long-term operational sustainability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Visualization, Communication, or a related field and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience building Power BI dashboards.
- Experience across the full development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with data visualization dashboards.
- Proficient with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, DAX, and data gateway management.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric architecture is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Power Apps (Canvas & Model-Driven), Power Automate, and Common Data Service (Dataverse).
- Experience with Office 365 APIs, app development, and integration.
- Ability to use and customize connectors in Power Platform solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Azure integrations and services.
- Experience managing and deploying in multiple environments (Dev/Test/Prod).
- Familiarity with configuration management and deployment strategies.
