Job Description: Role essence
- Windows Server Admin for a production trading environment (mission-critical, low-latency, zero-downtime mindset).
- Own architecture + L1/L2/L3 support across Americas region, with 24×7 on-call rotation and weekend work as needed.
- Blend of design, build, and run: clustering/HA, VMware, SAN, monitoring, patching, DR/BCP, and tight change/incident governance.
Must-have experience (non-negotiables)
- 10+ years hands-on with Windows Server: 2012/2016/2019/2022.
- Microsoft Failover Clustering (incl. stretch clusters) + load balancing concepts.
- Active Directory deep knowledge (domains, DNS, DHCP/WINS, registries).
- VMware stack: vSphere, vCenter, SRM; capacity/stress/risk monitoring & remediation.
- Enterprise SAN (EMC) with SRDF (knowing different SRDF types/modes).
- Performance & capacity management end-to-end.
- Production monitoring: Geneos, Dynatrace, OEM/vendor tools (HP/DELL/IBM).
- Patching/upgrades (security + OS) in governed environments.
- DR/BCP planning, testing, and execution.
- Change/Incident/Problem management (ITIL-style discipline).
- Scripting for daily checks (expect PowerShell in practice—even if JD says “scripts/tools”).
- Comfort with trading floor urgency: morning health checks, rapid triage, RCA.
Nice-to-haves:
- Hyper-V, IIS/.NET, F5 (LTM/GTM), extra Dynatrace depth.
- Exposure to MQ Series and relational DBs (Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server) from a platform/support viewpoint.
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, SNMP, subnetting, routing).
- Hardware fluency: HP/IBM/Dell incl. blades.
