Job Description

Database Architect (Expert) – Contract | Albany, NY (Hybrid)
Engagement: Contract, 30 months
Start Date: May 2, 2026
Resume Deadline: January 7, 2026
Remote: Up to 50% telecommute (2–3 days/week)

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, any 8-hour shift between 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM EST
 
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Database Architect to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level databases. You will work closely with business SMEs, technology teams, and vendors to ensure robust, scalable, and secure database solutions. This role includes mentoring staff, documenting processes, and leading database architecture efforts across complex environments.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze client operations and applications to determine database requirements
• Review objectives with clients and evaluate current systems
• Design, implement, and support data warehouses, COTS, and custom business applications
• Develop data integrations and business intelligence solutions using SQL and ETL technologies
• Model and design normalized Data Warehouse environments using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
• Perform comparative analysis to improve existing transactional databases and data warehouses
• Implement systematic data recovery, error handling, and cleanup procedures
• Integrate systems with Kafka and other modern data platforms
• Mentor staff and ensure knowledge transfer of processes and applications
 
Required Experience
• 7+ years working with business SMEs, vendors, and technology teams to design database solutions
• 7+ years architecting, documenting, and implementing data warehousing and application integrations
• 7+ years in data modeling, ETL, and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
• 7+ years developing data integrations and BI solutions using SQL
• 6 years performing database analysis and improvements
• 5 years analytical reasoning and problem-solving using data
• 4 years implementing data error recovery and cleanup procedures
• 2 years integrating systems with Kafka
 
Technical Environment
Databases: Oracle DB, MS SQL DB, PL/SQL, ODI
Hardware: Dell, IBM, HP
 
Additional Requirements
• NDA signing and NY State Police & ITS background/fingerprinting check
• Completion of NYS ITS mandatory annual trainings
• Travel: Not anticipated
