Job Description
- The Business System Analyst (Actuarial IT) is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements for Agile scrum teams and project initiatives.
- This role involves collaborating across business units to understand requirements for the Actuarial Data Center, documenting business needs, gathering necessary data, and retiring outdated processes.
- This may require analysis and coding in SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python.
- Additionally, the BSA will contribute to modernization efforts using AWS, assist in user acceptance testing, identify and remediate bugs, and implement improvements.
- The role also includes supporting production processes and maintaining communication with Actuarial business units.
Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Facilitates business requirement sessions with stakeholders across the organization, developing comprehensive documentation that aligns with business needs
- Translates business requirements into functional specifications, working in tandem with IT resources to develop technical solutions
- Collaborates with delivery team resources within the agile framework to create and refine user stories (JIRA), coordinating user acceptance testing to ensure quality standards are met
- Provides support for incident/defect management for BAU and/or project deliveries · Serves as backup for other BSAs during projects, refinement sessions, and Production Support activities · Implements best practices to ensure there is consistency in standards and execution
Skills & Competencies
- Actuarial Expertise
- Insurance Knowledge: Policy lifecycle, billing, claims, reinsurance structures, statutory reporting.
- Technical Skills: SQL, Excel (advanced), data modeling, APIs/integrations, reporting tools (Power BI/Tableau).
- Analysis & Problem-Solving: Root-cause analysis, process re-engineering, control design.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Clear documentation, workshops, cross-functional alignment.
- Project/Change Management: Prioritization, risk management, change control, UAT coordination.
