Job Description
Must-Have Requirements
All boxes must be ticked. Do not submit candidates missing any of the below.
1. CS or Math degree from a top-14 US university (Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, CMU, Princeton, Columbia, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Carnegie Mellon, etc.)
2. Published AI/ML research at a peer-reviewed venue (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL) — undergrad or masters papers count.
3. 2+ years shipping production AI agent systems with real-world users (not demos or prototypes).
4. Strong backend engineering pedigree — ideally from Stripe, Uber, Ramp, Robinhood, Plaid, Block, Rippling, Brex, Gusto, or equivalent high-bar engineering orgs. Evidence of building fundamental, scaled systems required.
5. Daily fluency with AI coding tools — Cursor, Claude Code, or similar. Must be genuinely in their daily workflow, not occasional use.
6. 4–12 years total experience in backend/infra software engineering.
7. Ability to communicate directly with finance teams, CFOs, and controllers — not purely heads-down engineering.
8. Available to work in-person 5 days/week in NYC, or willing to relocate.
