Lead Data Engineer – Snowflake
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Engineer with 10+ years of overall IT experience and extensive expertise in Snowflake enterprise data architecture to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing modern data platforms, enterprise data warehouses, and complex ETL/ELT pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable data solutions using Snowflake data warehousing.
- Pipeline Design: Build and optimize end-to-end robust ETL/ELT data pipelines from disparate enterprise sources into Snowflake.
- Performance Tuning: Manage Snowflake objects (virtual warehouses, databases, schemas, tables), optimize query performance, manage clustering keys, and monitor resource consumption.
- Data Modeling: Lead dimensional modeling, schema design (Star/Snowflake schema), and data marts creation tailored for reporting and analytics.
- Integration & Automation: Integrate Snowflake with cloud technologies (AWS / Azure / GCP) and data integration/orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, DBT, Matillion, or Informatica).
- Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor junior-to-mid-level data engineers, review code, enforce best practices in data governance, security, and data quality.
Basic / Must-Have Qualification
- Total Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence.
- Snowflake Expertise: 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise solutions using Snowflake.
- Core Technical Stack:
- Advanced SQL tuning, stored procedures, UDFs, and query optimization.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java for data processing.
- Hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT orchestration tools (DBT, Airflow, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Glue).
- Hands-on experience with at least one major Cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
