Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience as a Principal Engineer in Azure PaaS environment (.Net, C#)
• Strong Experience with Azure Functions, CosmosDB, Service Bus and Event Hub
• Strong Experience with DevSecOps in Azure Space using GitHub
• Proven track record of building and supporting scalable, high-performance applications
• Strong Experience with agile delivery model
• Any priori experience of leading large Azure transformations projects is a big plus
Preferred Qualifications
Azure Certifications are a plus.
SAFE Agile Certifications are a plus.
Major duties and responsibilities
A Principal Engineer/ Cloud Architect has deep knowledge & experience to design and implement business functionality in their assigned Platform(s)/Product(s)/Product Line(s). A Principal Engineer typically leads the technology aspect of Platform(s)/Product Line(s), leading the technical direction, guiding engineers, and communicating team progress alongside the Product Manager. Engineers at this level can lead & deliver on assigned Epics in their supported area. They identify, lead the creation of and champion DevSecOps best practices to ship high-quality code, and continue to push their knowledge
End to End Feature Development
• Develop new features and services that are medium-very high level of complexity working with the product/platform/infrastructure/security team.
• Design, code, deploy & support working software / technology components, working collaboratively with architects and other engineers.
• Create Threat Model, Architecture, Estimates, Design, Code, COTS configuration for the required business feature.
• Responsible for code analysis, debugging, review and execution of unit/integration tests. Create test automation scripts and overall test automation strategies.
• Responsible for delivering clean, secure, performant code / technology components that meet all the non-functional requirements.
• Ensure solution design/code meets requirements for operational excellence including interoperability, security, monitoring and system resilience etc.
• Responsible for achieving operational excellence as part of delivering features.
• Acts in Lead Engineer capacity for medium to very large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance and resolving issues.
• Sets up application jobs, creates test data, and supports deployment, all at a medium to very high level of complexity.
• Models ‘engineering mindset’, coaching more junior engineers and other technology professionals.
• Leads discussions on design approaches to solving visible, strategic and complex business problems.
• Ensures code is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and all TJX Company standards as applicable.
• Fully Owns Epic and provides guidance to product / platform teams and other teams as needed.
• Takes initiative to identify and solve important problems, often coordinating cross-functionally.
Strategy & Best Practices
• Identifies, leads & participates in Development process definitions, best practices and standards.
• Publishes and maintains design best practice methodologies and standards.
• Leads evaluation of 3rd party engagement need and SOW creation, review & ongoing performance management process.
• Identifies emerging technologies for consideration for new technology direction and implements proof of concepts to prove the new technology.
Talent Development & Evangelizing
• Helps onboard and mentor new hires.
• Mentors other engineers across the technical domains/enterprise.
• Conducts knowledge enablement sessions for the technical domain.
• Support Talent Acquisition process by performing technical interviews for hiring.
• Learns and champions DevOps practices.
Subject Matter Expert
• Maintains broad knowledge in the business applications / services that comprise a given technical domain.
• Has an expert understanding of the end-to-end business application processes in a given technical domain.
• Is responsible for the technical application / service roadmaps including the recommendation and initiation of IT driven projects.
• Provides technical subject matter expertise and insight related to the business applications in a given technical domain.
