Role Overview
Capital One is seeking an experienced Database Security Engineer with a strong Database Administration and Imperva DAM (SecureSphere) background to manage, optimize, and expand its enterprise Database Activity Monitoring platform.
The ideal candidate will ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage across critical database environments, automate operational tasks, monitor platform health, and maintain security policies and baselines.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Imperva DAM/SecureSphere platform.
- Manage vendor escalations, support cases, upgrades, and complex platform issues.
- Partner with DBAs to reconcile database inventories and ensure complete DAM monitoring coverage.
- Monitor MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata environments for coverage gaps and activity-recording issues.
- Monitor platform telemetry, agents, logging, and system health.
- Review and optimize security policies, baselines, and policy drift.
- Support database auditing, anomaly detection, and security governance.
- Automate health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, and routine operational workflows.
- Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and/or REST APIs.
- Troubleshoot database security and monitoring issues and drive resolution with internal teams and vendors.
Required Skills
- Hands-on Imperva DAM / SecureSphere administration and engineering.
- Strong Database Administration experience.
- Experience with MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, SQL, logging, auditing, and system catalogs.
- Experience with Python / PowerShell / Bash / REST APIs.
- Knowledge of database security, auditing, security baselines, policy governance, and anomaly detection.
- Strong troubleshooting and vendor management experience.
