The Security Workflow Engineering team, part of the Security & Trust Organization, is responsible for engineering and delivering tools that help discover, mitigate, and report on security engineering across every application, platform, and service that Cisco delivers to its customers.
Our responsibility is to provide an end-to-end digital experience with automation to help engineering across Cisco.

Your Impact
We are looking for a full-stack, AI-native software engineer with deep AWS expertise to build capabilities that will help secure the products of today and the AI-built, agent-operated systems of tomorrow.
Your technical leadership will be vital in solving key challenges ahead of us, including:
- Architecting an always-on API platform that scales to the enterprise.
- Modernizing legacy applications and monolithic architectures.
- Prototyping how security can keep pace as AI reshapes the way software is built.
- Collaborating with leadership and engineering teams to establish execution plans.
- Using Agile methodologies to develop, test, deploy, and support industry-leading services for customers.
Who You Are
You've made the shift from being an experienced, effective software engineer to being an AI-native software engineer.
You:
- Have proven experience serving as a software engineer for web application projects hosted on-premise and in the cloud, supporting a large customer base.
- Treat performance as a design constraint, not merely a tuning exercise after implementation.
- Know when to build custom solutions and when to use a managed AWS service, and can justify those trade-offs based on the problem.
- Think in systems and critically evaluate designs, including reviewing AI-generated code and architecture to identify subtle bugs, security gaps, and design choices that may not hold up under load or misuse.
- Use spec-driven development with AI as your default approach to software engineering.
- Adapt quickly to new tools and approaches as AI-assisted software development continues to evolve.
- Are decisive without being divisive and can analytically weigh trade-offs, balance competing priorities, and drive decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated fluency in leveraging AI technologies across the entire software development lifecycle, including:
- Breaking down user stories into actionable tasks.
- AI-assisted coding and testing.
- Automated defect resolution.
- Deployment of fully tested software.
- Deep, hands-on experience building and deploying production systems on AWS, including technologies such as:
- EC2
- Lambda
- ECS / EKS
- S3
- RDS / DynamoDB
- API Gateway
- Proven track record of delivering real, customer-facing applications in production.
- Server-side software development experience with Python, Java, Node.js, and/or similar technologies.
- Client-side web application development experience using React, Backbone, native JavaScript, and/or comparable technologies.
- Expertise in building secure, large-scale, fault-tolerant systems using technologies such as:
- Elasticsearch
- CockroachDB
- Oracle
- MongoDB
- Kafka
Preferred / Nice to Have
- AWS Certification, such as:
- AWS Solutions Architect
- AWS Developer
- CISSP
- CCSP
- Similar security certifications
