Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Java Application Modernization Developer to upgrade and modernize an internal Java application to Java 21 and Spring Framework 6.x. The role will also involve migrating existing Struts-based applications to the Spring Framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Upgrade existing internal Java applications to Java 21.
- Modernize applications using Spring Framework 6.x.
- Migrate legacy Struts applications to Spring Framework.
- Analyze existing J2EE applications and identify modernization requirements.
- Perform application code upgrades and refactoring using OpenRewrite.
- Build and manage application dependencies using Maven.
- Deploy and support applications on WebSphere or WebSphere Liberty.
- Containerize applications using Docker.
- Work with Oracle Database for application data and database integration.
- Troubleshoot application issues during the modernization and migration process.
- Collaborate with development and technical teams to ensure successful application upgrades.
Required Skills
- 6–8 years of experience in Java/J2EE application development.
- Strong experience with Java.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Framework 6.x.
- Experience with Struts and Struts-to-Spring migration.
- Experience with Maven.
- Experience with WebSphere or WebSphere Liberty.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with OpenRewrite.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database.
- Experience working with legacy J2EE applications and application modernization.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience upgrading legacy J2EE applications to modern Java/Spring versions.
- Experience with Claude Code.
