Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Lead Developer to lead SAP development initiatives, provide technical design expertise, and deliver high-quality SAP solutions. The consultant will translate business requirements into technical specifications, oversee development and code quality, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with functional consultants, technical architects, infrastructure teams, and offshore development resources.
The ideal candidate will have strong SAP ABAP development skills, an understanding of SAP HANA, and experience leading technical delivery across development, testing, and deployment activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead SAP ABAP development activities, technical design, and code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to development standards.
- Analyze business and functional requirements and independently prepare detailed technical specifications.
- Design, develop, enhance, and troubleshoot SAP applications using ABAP.
- Apply SAP HANA knowledge to support application development, database-aware programming, and performance optimization.
- Coordinate development activities with offshore teams and manage technical deliverables, priorities, and dependencies.
- Collaborate with functional consultants, solution architects, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Oversee unit testing, integration testing support, defect resolution, code remediation, and deployment readiness.
- Investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Monitor development progress, communicate project status, and escalate technical risks and dependencies to management.
- Promote coding standards, technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
- Strong skills in ABAP development, technical design, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently interpret functional requirements and prepare technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of SAP HANA and its implications for SAP application development and performance.
- Experience coordinating development activities and technical deliverables across offshore teams.
- Experience supporting development testing, defect resolution, and deployment activities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA development environments.
- Exposure to ABAP on HANA, performance optimization, and modern ABAP development practices.
- Experience with SAP development tools and code-quality practices relevant to the client's environment.
- Experience leading technical delivery for complex SAP projects.
