Job Description

We are seeking an experienced **Interim Director of Research Computing** to provide executive leadership, stabilize departmental operations, and drive organizational transformation within the Division of IT.

 **Required Qualifications:**
Government / Public Sector Experience – MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8+ years leading organizational transformation, change management, and service delivery optimization
- 8+ years leading large, complex technology projects
- 8+ years in personnel management, coaching, and performance accountability
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills
- Experience improving operational performance, team culture, and customer satisfaction
- Ability to manage resources, budgets, governance, and organizational change

 **Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead departmental operations, research technology infrastructure, and services
- Supervise managers, professional staff, and student employees
- Establish performance metrics and accountability practices
- Drive organizational change and culture transformation
- Review infrastructure, services, projects, and budget requirements
- Improve service delivery, governance, and customer engagement
- Provide executive-level reports and strategic recommendations
- Develop succession plans and transition documentation for permanent leadership

**Preferred Skills:**
- Research cyberinfrastructure and High-Performance Computing (HPC)
- High-speed storage and networking technologies
- Governance and operational maturity frameworks
- Higher education organizational change experience
- Master’s degree
- ITIL, AWS/Azure Cloud, AI Infrastructure
- Carpentries Instructor or HPC training (Slurm, InfiniBand)
