Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Engineer to provide ongoing maintenance and support of the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS).

Key Responsibilities
1. Provide technical leadership and guidance to other developers
2. Develop and maintain scalable and high-performance solutions using AWS services
3. Lead the design and development of data pipelines and ETL processes
4. Implement and manage Elastic Search engine for efficient data retrieval and analysis
5. Develop software design documents and work with stakeholders for review and approval

Required Technical Skills
1. Programming languages: Python, Scala
2. AWS services: Databricks, Elastic search, Kibanna, S3
3. Data warehousing and visualization tools
4. Oracle database management
5. Agile development methodologies
6. CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops

Experience
1. 12+ years developing complex database systems
2. 8+ years’ experience with Databricks, Elastic search, Kibanna
3. 8+ years’ experience with Python/Scala
4. 5+ years’ experience with AWS, data warehousing, and data visualization tools
