Position:: SAP GTS Functional Consultant – S/4HANA Upgrade
Location: Addison, IL (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior SAP GTS Functional Consultant to support an S/4HANA upgrade initiative. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing upgrade impacts, remediating deprecated GTS functionalities, ensuring compliance readiness, and driving the GTS workstream in close collaboration with business stakeholders. This role requires deep functional expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to independently lead discussions and decisions in an Agile project environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze S/4HANA upgrade impacts on SAP GTS processes, interfaces, and integrations.
• Identify and remediate deprecated GTS functionalities, aligning solutions with S/4HANA simplification items.
• Design, configure, and implement SAP GTS processes covering the full trade lifecycle—from order creation through customs clearance and final payment.
• Ensure readiness and accuracy of compliance checks, embargo/sanction screening, and customs documentation.
• Prepare, execute, and document test cases for foreign trade and compliance processes.
• Define and execute cutover activities for the GTS stream to ensure a smooth go-live.
• Develop functional specifications for reports, interfaces, enhancements, workflows, and forms.
• Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional and technical solutions.
• Create test scenarios and support unit testing, integration testing, and UAT.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues and defects within the SAP GTS module.
• Provide user training, post-go-live support, and ongoing guidance on SAP best practices.
• Act as a key decision driver within the Agile delivery model, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
Required Skills & Knowledge
• Expert-level knowledge of SAP Global Trade Services (GTS)
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA upgrade or migration projects
• Strong exposure to SAP HANA Cloud Integration (HCI / CPI)
• Excellent understanding of global trade compliance, customs management, and foreign trade processes
• Proven ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and drive the GTS workstream end-to-end
• Experience working in Agile project environments with strong decision-making capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in large enterprise SAP transformations
• Exposure to compliance screening, embargo checks, and customs filing integrations
• Experience supporting post-go-live hypercare for SAP GTS
