Job Description
We are seeking an experienced VMware HCX Specialist to support large-scale infrastructure migration initiatives across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role focuses on designing and executing seamless workload migrations using VMware HCX while ensuring minimal downtime and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage VMware HCX solutions for cloud migration
- Execute bulk migrations, vMotion, and cold migrations using HCX
- Perform infrastructure discovery, dependency mapping, and workload assessment
- Plan and execute cutover strategies, rollback procedures, and migration waves
- Configure and manage:
- HCX Interconnect (IX)
- Network Extension (NE)
- WAN Optimization
- Collaborate with network, cloud, and security teams for end-to-end migration delivery
- Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize performance
- Ensure high availability, minimal downtime, and data integrity
- Document migration processes, architecture, and best practices
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter
- VMware HCX (must-have)
- Experience with:
- P2V / V2V migrations
- Hybrid cloud environments (OCI / AWS / Azure)
- Good understanding of:
- Networking (VLANs, routing, VPN, L2/L3)
- Storage concepts (SAN/NAS)
- Experience with migration tools and strategies
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with VMware NSX
- Automation knowledge:
- PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, Terraform
- Prior experience in large enterprise migration projects
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
- Good documentation and reporting skills
Nice to Have
- VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP)
- Experience working in regulated environments (Banking, Healthcare, etc.)
