Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Voice Engineer to design, implement, support, and optimize enterprise voice and unified communications environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VoIP technologies, SIP trunking, call routing, contact center platforms, and cloud-based communication solutions. This role requires hands-on experience with enterprise voice infrastructure, troubleshooting complex telephony issues, and supporting large-scale communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise voice solutions including VoIP, SIP trunking, Unified Communications (UC), and cloud contact center platforms.
- Configure and manage call routing, dial plans, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and call flow solutions.
- Provide Tier 3/Tier 4 support for voice-related incidents, performance issues, and service outages.
- Troubleshoot voice quality issues such as latency, jitter, packet loss, and call failures using diagnostic tools.
- Manage and support SIP connectivity with telecom carriers and service providers.
- Coordinate with vendors and telecommunications providers to resolve network and voice service issues.
- Perform system upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects from legacy PBX environments to cloud or hybrid communication platforms.
- Manage telephone numbers (TFNs, DIDs), carrier provisioning, and call routing configurations.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise voice infrastructure.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Voice & Telecom Technologies
- Strong expertise in VoIP, SIP, RTP, SRTP, WebRTC, and H.323 protocols.
- Experience with SIP trunking, call routing, dial plans, and voice gateways.
- Deep understanding of enterprise voice architecture and telecommunications networks.
Unified Communications Platforms
Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Cisco Webex Calling
- Microsoft Teams Phone
- Avaya
- Genesys Cloud
Network & Infrastructure
- Experience configuring and supporting Session Border Controllers (SBCs) such as Ribbon or Oracle.
- Knowledge of media gateways, routers, and voice infrastructure components.
- Understanding of QoS, networking fundamentals, and voice traffic optimization.
Troubleshooting & Monitoring
- Experience using tools such as:
- Wireshark
- SIPp
- Voice monitoring and packet analysis tools
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex voice and telecom issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP Collaboration or CCIE Collaboration preferred.
- Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer certification is a plus.
- Experience working with cloud-based UC and Contact Center solutions.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience Required
- Experience in Voice Engineering, Unified Communications, Telecom Operations, or related roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale voice environments and carrier integrations.
