Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented professional to support a field data collection project. The primary responsibility will be to manually operate an electric vehicle (EV) along designated routes while ensuring accurate data collection, system uptime, and basic troubleshooting of onboard equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection: Operate an EV for up to 8 hours per day while following predetermined routes and established collection procedures.
System Monitoring: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of onboard equipment, including cameras, LiDAR, and other sensors.
Basic Troubleshooting: Perform basic field maintenance such as power-cycling systems, reseating data connections, and keeping sensors clean and unobstructed.
Data Management: Ensure collected data is properly logged, documented, and uploaded according to project requirements.
Issue Reporting: Document and report system anomalies, hardware issues, and relevant environmental observations to the appropriate technical team.
Required Qualifications
Valid U.S. Driver’s License with at least 3 years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions and repetitive processes consistently.
Comfortable working with basic hardware and software systems.
Proficiency with Google Workspace for documentation and data tracking.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and communicate technical or operational issues clearly.
Basic Linux command-line familiarity is a plus.
Physical & Schedule Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as required.
Preferred Experience
Field data collection or mapping experience.
Fleet operations experience.
Experience as a Field Technician, IT Support Specialist, or similar hands-on technical role.
Previous experience operating or working with Electric Vehicles (EVs).
