Job Description
Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer
Job Overview:
BNSF is looking for a Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer to build software platforms, control planes, APIs, and orchestration systems that support large-scale infrastructure environments.
This is not a traditional infrastructure/operations role. Candidates should have strong software engineering experience building infrastructure platforms rather than simply administering or configuring infrastructure.
Key Requirements:
- C++ – Mandatory
- VMware / Virtualization – Mandatory
- Strong software engineering background
- Experience developing infrastructure software/platforms
- Hypervisor and virtualization experience
- Storage software/orchestration experience
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Networking
- Experience building APIs, control planes, or automation platforms
Important: Candidates focused primarily on system administration, VM provisioning, storage administration, or infrastructure operations are not a fit.
