Job Description
BFSI Data & AI practice Lead (Director-level)

About the role
BFSI Data & AI practice is scaling rapidly across banking, insurance, and capital markets, and we are looking for a Director-level Senior Data and AI Consulting Specialist to help lead this growth. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to financial services clients, bringing deep BFSI domain expertise and consulting rigor to some of the most complex data and AI transformation challenges facing the industry today.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical fluency in modern data platform modernization, data products, data migration, and data governance with the executive presence to guide senior client stakeholders through complex strategic decisions — partnering closely with client business, data, and technology leaders to shape how they modernize their data estate and unlock new AI-driven value.
Key responsibilities include leading comprehensive discovery of a client’s current data, platform, and technology landscape, evaluating platform readiness, data quality, scalability, and architectural constraints.
Key skills to focus on:
  • Stakeholder Management & Consulting
  • Data Modernization
  • Data Products
  • Data Migration
  • Data Governance
  • BFSI Domain Expertise
Responsibilities
  • Architecture Discovery & Assessment: Lead comprehensive discovery of a client's current data, platform, and technology landscape, evaluating platform readiness, data quality, scalability, and architectural constraints. Synthesize findings into a clear, well-substantiated view of strengths, gaps, and risks that inform the client's broader modernization strategy.
  • Modern Data Platform Strategy: Define and guide the design of modern data platforms that support advanced analytics, BI, Conversational BI, and GenAI use cases, applying sound data modernization and data migration principles to ensure platforms are scalable, secure, and built for future growth.
  • Data Landscape & Business Alignment: Develop a thorough understanding of a customer's data landscape in the context of their core business functions, and translate that understanding into clear, actionable guidance on their broader data modernization and data governance strategy.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify high-value improvement opportunities and priority areas across a client's data and analytics estate, balancing near-term quick wins against longer-term strategic investments.
  • Business & Data Product Acumen: Build a thorough understanding of the customer, their business model, and the data products that underpin it, ensuring that recommendations are grounded in genuine business value rather than technology for its own sake.
  • Ecosystem Understanding: Evaluate the client's broader ecosystem of people, process, and technology to ensure that recommendations are realistic, adoptable, and aligned with organizational readiness and change capacity.
  • Banking Security & Regulatory Considerations: Bring a strong command of banking-grade security, data entitlements, and regulatory and compliance considerations to every engagement, ensuring that architecture and governance recommendations meet the rigor expected in financial services.
  • Roadmap & Solution Design: Develop future-state architecture, MVP definitions, and phased, sequenced implementation roadmaps that account for dependencies, risk, and organizational change management.
  • Client & Stakeholder Leadership: Lead stakeholder workshops and executive interviews, facilitate synthesis of qualitative and quantitative inputs, and present findings and recommendations in a manner that resonates with senior business and technology leadership.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in data and AI strategy consulting, with a substantial portion of that experience focused on the BFSI (banking, insurance, or capital markets) sector, including direct exposure to the operational, regulatory, and risk considerations unique to financial services.
  • A consulting or systems integration background from a leading firm with demonstrated, hands-on delivery experience in Data Modernization, Data Products, Data Migration, and Data Governance.
  • A proven track record of leading architecture discovery and assessment engagements from initiation through delivery, ideally including experience with proof-of-technology or proof-of-concept initiatives that validate strategic recommendations.
  • Strong working fluency with modern data platforms and ecosystems — including cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, and data mesh and data product architectures — as well as BI, Conversational BI, and GenAI capabilities and how they integrate into a broader enterprise data strategy.
  • Deep familiarity with banking-grade security, entitlements, and regulatory and compliance frameworks, and the ability to engage credibly with client architecture, risk, and security teams on these topics.
  • Director-level executive presence, with the ability to lead client-facing engagements independently, manage senior stakeholder relationships, and mentor and develop a delivery team.
  • Excellent storytelling and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical assessments into clear, business-ready roadmaps and recommendations for senior decision-makers.
Required Skills
  • Strong technical fluency in modern data platform modernization, data products, data migration, and data governance.
  • Executive presence to guide senior client stakeholders through complex strategic decisions.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with proof-of-technology or proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake.
