Job Description
Software Engineer – Advanced (.NET)
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Advanced (.NET) – 602 Level to join our team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with .NET / .NET Core development, along with a proven track record of migrating legacy .NET applications to modern .NET Core platforms.
This is a backend-focused engineering role involving the development and modernization of REST services, Windows services, and database-driven applications.
Prior experience working on application migration/modernization projects is a critical requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the migration of legacy .NET applications to .NET Core.
- Analyze existing legacy applications and develop migration and modernization strategies.
- Refactor and modernize existing application components while maintaining functionality and business requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using C#, .NET, and .NET Core.
- Develop and support RESTful APIs/services and Windows services.
- Work with SQL Server, including stored procedures, queries, and database integration.
- Use LINQ for efficient data access and manipulation.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications and services.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout migration initiatives.
- Ensure migrated applications meet performance, reliability, security, and maintainability requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, testing, and deployment activities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET, and .NET Core.
- Proven experience with legacy .NET application migration/modernization projects — REQUIRED.
- Experience migrating applications from legacy .NET frameworks to .NET Core / modern .NET.
- Strong backend development experience with:
- RESTful services/APIs
- Windows services
- C#
- .NET / .NET Core
- Strong SQL Server experience.
- Experience writing and working with stored procedures.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with LINQ.
- Experience troubleshooting and modernizing existing enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, coding standards, testing, and deployment practices.
- Ability to work 5 days per week onsite in Chicago, IL.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with enterprise-scale application modernization.
- Experience working with large legacy application codebases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment practices.
