Job Description
Job Summary:
Principal Wireless Network Engineer required for a programmer of work within aims to modernize and enhance the US network infrastructure to improve reliability, security, and user experience. Key initiatives include replacing end-of-life wireless hardware, deploying enhanced Wi-Fi solutions, and provisioning high-speed internet connectivity services overlayed with SDWAN technology.
The programmer will also progress alternative connectivity options such as satellite and 5G solutions for disaster recovery and rapid deployment, while supporting facility expansion projects.
Comprehensive wireless surveys and design work will be a significant part of this engagement, with ad-hoc travel required to conduct physical Wi-Fi surveys with Ekahau and/or Hamina tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and optimize enterprise wireless LAN solutions across office and industrial environments.
- Conduct wireless surveys (predictive & onsite), RF analysis and coverage optimization.
- Lead troubleshooting for complex Wi Fi issues, including authentication, interference and performance degradation.
- Create and update Low Level Designs (LLDs) for Wi Fi, NAC and related network services.
- Produce accurate Bill of Materials (BoM) for new deployments, refresh programmers and upgrade initiatives.
- Support Wi Fi lifecycle management including hardware upgrades, software updates and capacity planning.
- Work with stakeholders across IT, operations and platform teams to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
- Contribute to standards, best practices, design documentation and knowledge sharing within the network engineering chapter.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ Strong hands-on experience with enterprise WLAN technologies (Cisco, Aruba).
- Must Have deep understanding of:
- RF fundamentals (channel planning, power, interference mitigation etc.)
- 802.11 standards including Wi Fi 5/6/6E/7
- WLAN authentication (EAP methods, RADIUS, role-based access)
- Enterprise controllers, cloud managed Wi Fi platforms and policy engines
- Proficiency with wireless survey tools (Ekahau, Hamina etc.)

Experience with Cradlepoint, or similar 5G cellular enabled networking platforms

Experience supporting large scale Wi Fi environments in complex organisations.

Experience with Aruba ClearPass for 802.1X, RADIUS, profiling and role-based access

Ability to interpret network analytics, performance data and incident trends.

Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
