Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join State Street's Server Framework team. The ideal candidate will have strong software development experience, object-oriented programming skills, and knowledge of financial services applications. You will contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of IMS modules while working collaboratively within an Agile Scrum team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and enhancements.
- Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of IMS modules and components.
- Develop software solutions using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related programming languages.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to translate business requirements into sustainable software solutions.
- Participate in software architecture and design activities within the team's scope.
- Write unit tests and automation tests to ensure software quality.
- Perform manual testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Provide engineering support to customer support and development teams.
- Participate in code reviews and provide technical recommendations.
- Prepare design specifications, API documentation, and customer documentation.
- Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete software development assignments.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience.
- Experience working in a financial services product delivery environment is preferred.
- Strong object-oriented programming and software development knowledge.
- Experience with relational databases (RDBMS), scripting, operating systems, or advanced programming languages.
- Ability to work independently on small to medium-sized projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to contribute to design specifications with guidance from senior engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Minimum 3 years of Agile development experience is strongly preferred.
Preferred Financial Services Experience
Candidates with 2–5 years of financial services development experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly preferred:
- Portfolio Management
- Trading Systems
- Compliance
- Post-Trade Processing
- IBOR (Investment Book of Record)
- Wealth Management
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another relevant technical discipline.
- Master's degree is strongly preferred.
- Equivalent foreign education may be considered.
