Job Summary
The XM Experience Squad within Connected Living is responsible for delivering exceptional Xfinity Mobile experiences in the Xfinity App. Our team builds and enhances customer-facing features that enable customers to manage mobile lines, devices, plans, billing, upgrades, trade-ins, onboarding, and account experiences.
As a Senior Software Development Engineer (Android), you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable native Android applications that serve millions of customers. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, Architecture, and Platform teams to build innovative mobile experiences while driving engineering excellence and technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
- Lead technical solution design and implementation for customer-facing mobile features.
- Build experiences supporting:
- Device Upgrade & Trade-In
- Mobile Plan Management
- Line and Device Management
- Billing & Payments
- Mobile Onboarding & Activation
- International Services
- Push Notifications & Customer Engagement
- Customer Education & Value Reinforcement Experiences
- Partner with backend engineering teams to integrate RESTful APIs and platform services.
- Drive architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design reviews.
- Champion engineering best practices, automation, testing, and CI/CD.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to team technical growth.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality customer experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
- Deep understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, Android Architecture Components, and modern Android development practices.
- Experience building large-scale consumer-facing mobile applications.
- Strong knowledge of MVVM architecture, Clean Architecture principles, Dependency Injection, Coroutines, and Flow.
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling complex client-server interactions.
- Hands-on experience with Spec-Driven Development (SDD), collaborating across Product, Design, and Engineering teams to drive implementation from detailed specifications, acceptance criteria, API contracts, and architecture designs while ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies including unit, integration, and UI testing.
- Experience with feature flag frameworks and staged rollouts.
- Familiarity with mobile analytics, observability, and experimentation platforms.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
- Knowledge of GraphQL and experience consuming GraphQL APIs for customer-facing mobile experiences is a plus.
