Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent software development projects that incorporate AI-enabled features and capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and business strategy — translating ambiguous requirements into clear technical roadmaps, and driving cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, AI-enhanced software on time and within scope.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation (including hands-on coding experience), a track record of managing complex, multi-workstream projects, and direct experience delivering software products that integrate AI capabilities — such as LLM/API integrations, intelligent automation, copilots, or AI-driven user experiences — from requirements through production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery for multiple software development projects simultaneously, from requirements gathering through deployment and post-launch support, with a focus on products that embed AI-enabled functionality.
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into clear technical requirements, user stories, and actionable engineering plans for AI-enhanced features.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to plan sprints, remove blockers, and ensure technical feasibility when integrating AI capabilities (LLM APIs, third-party AI services, automation logic) into existing and new products.
- Apply hands-on technical judgment — reviewing architecture and integration decisions, understanding code-level constraints, and occasionally contributing directly (scripting, debugging, prototyping) when it accelerates delivery.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and risk across a portfolio of initiatives, proactively identifying and resolving conflicts between competing priorities.
- Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and continuously improve team processes and delivery velocity.
- Report progress and risks to leadership, providing clear, data-driven status updates and escalating issues with recommended solutions — not just problems.
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders including product, design, QA, and external vendors/partners on AI-enabled feature rollouts.
- Champion best practices in software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD, and responsible use of AI tooling within products (data privacy, output reliability, user trust and safety).
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to building a strong project management and engineering culture.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager, Program Manager, or similar role in software/technology development.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Direct experience delivering AI-enabled software products (e.g., features built on LLM APIs, AI copilots, intelligent automation, or third-party AI service integrations).
- Hands-on coding experience — proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java) sufficient to read code, understand technical trade-offs, and prototype when needed.
- Strong grasp of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical scoping through deployment and maintenance.
- Proven ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders — translating complex technical concepts into business terms and vice versa.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Jira, Asana, Linear, or similar).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward action.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a software engineer before transitioning into project/program management.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps/CI-CD practices.
- Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI) into production software products.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, API rate limits/costs, and UX considerations specific to AI-enabled features.
- Experience managing distributed/remote teams.
