Job Description
The Staff Enterprise Application Engineer will serve as the technical anchor for enterprise applications that support systems engineering and engineering operations.
In this role, you will build, deploy, integrate, and support critical engineering applications that improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). You will partner closely with systems engineers and program teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliant, high-quality operations across the engineering toolchain.
You will learn and embrace LEAN practices, including GE Aerospace’s proprietary implementation called FLIGHT DECK, in your daily work to promote continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Triage server and application outages
  • Assist software engineering teams with product deployments
  • Perform security patching and platform updates
  • Develop automated processes to improve release speed and efficiency
  • Develop high-quality technical guidance, operational documentation, and standard work as needed
  • Support the deployment, integration, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise engineering applications
  • Help maintain reliable, secure, scalable, and compliant application environments
 
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience
  • Linux server administration experience
  • Windows server administration experience
  • General cloud experience, with AWS preferred
  • Proficiency in writing Bash or PowerShell scripts
  • Proficiency in using Large Language Models in day-to-day work, including tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
  • Strong, proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently identify and resolve issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • ITIL experience
  • L3 or L4 support operations experience
     
Desired Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with IBM tools, including legacy and modern technologies
  • Networking experience
  • Experience creating architecture diagrams
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices
  • Jenkins experience
  • Ansible experience
  • Red Hat OpenShift experience
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and practices, including Scrum and Kanban
