Job Description
- Mainframe z/OS System Programmer
- Responsible for installing, customizing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing IBM z/OS operating systems and related mainframe software.
Mandatory Requirements Include:
- IBM z/OS installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance
- Experience with PTFs, APARs, and RSUs
- IPL processes, system initialization, PARMLIB, PROCLIB, and SYS1 datasets
- Experience with RMF, SMF, and SDSF
- Knowledge of JES2/JES3, TSO/E, ISPF, USS, and RACF
- Collaboration with DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and storage teams
- System performance, capacity management, and resource optimization
- Troubleshooting system abends, outages, and failures
- Automation using System REXX, CLIST, SA z/OS, or NetView
- Knowledge of CA7 or Control-M scheduling tools
- ITIL-based change and release management, preferably using ServiceNow
- Documentation of system configurations, SOPs, and DR plans
- Willingness to support weekend maintenance and IPL activities
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in large-scale enterprise mainframe environments
- Disaster recovery and business continuity testing
- IBM or vendor coordination for problem resolution
- z/OS modernization and automation initiatives
