Job Description
Project Overview
The Power Systems Optimizer (PSO) platform is a strategic analytics and forecasting solution that supports energy market analysis, forecasting, optimization, scenario evaluation, and operational decision-making. The platform helps business teams assess market opportunities and generate data-driven insights across power market operations.
The PSO Interface IT Enablement initiative is focused on establishing a scalable, secure, and supportable platform foundation while enabling future reporting, analytics, forecasting, and application enhancements. The engineer will collaborate with business and project stakeholders to help deliver a stable platform that supports future growth and innovation.
Position Summary
The AWS Cloud & Identity Engineer will design and implement the cloud and identity foundation for the PSO platform. The role will own AWS environment architecture and configuration, IAM policy design, Amazon Cognito integration, infrastructure as code, observability, resilience, and production readiness. The engineer will also design and support Databricks on AWS, including secure workspace connectivity, identity integration, storage access, networking, monitoring, and deployment automation for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning workloads.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support AWS infrastructure across development, test, and production environments.
Configure and manage IAM roles, policies, service accounts, identity federation, and least-privilege access controls.
Implement and support Amazon Cognito authentication and application integration patterns.
Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, recovery, and operational support practices.
Contribute to logical and physical architecture diagrams, implementation plans, technical testing, and production readiness.
Support troubleshooting, knowledge transfer, operating procedures, and support runbooks.
Design and support Databricks on AWS, including workspace architecture, VPC connectivity, S3 access, IAM roles, secrets, logging, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code deployment patterns.
Required Qualifications
Five or more years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience.
Strong experience with AWS IAM, Amazon Cognito, authentication, authorization, and identity federation.
Experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
Experience supporting enterprise cloud environments and production operations.
Knowledge of cloud networking, secrets management, encryption, monitoring, and logging.
Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Hands-on Databricks experience on AWS, including workspace configuration, IAM and identity integration, S3 or data lake connectivity, cluster or compute policies, secrets management, networking, monitoring, and CI/CD or infrastructure-as-code automation.
Databricks Experience
Required: Hands-on experience deploying or integrating Databricks on AWS, including workspace architecture, VPC connectivity, IAM roles, S3 or data lake access, secrets management, monitoring, cluster or compute policies, and CI/CD or infrastructure-as-code automation.
Preferred Energy Market Experience
Experience supporting energy trading, power market analytics, utility operations, renewable energy, or forecasting platforms.
Familiarity with North American ISO/RTO markets such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, or ISO-NE.
Understanding of energy forecasting, optimization, market analysis, generation operations, or transmission systems.
Experience in regulated, cybersecurity-sensitive, or compliance-driven utility environments is preferred.
Relevant AWS certification is a plus.
Expected Deliverables
Documented AWS and identity architecture.
Configured cloud environments and reusable infrastructure templates.
IAM and Cognito implementation standards.
Monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and operational procedures.
Databricks on AWS architecture, access model, configuration standards, and operational documentation.
