Job Description
The Technical Project Manager owns the delivery and governance layer for an enterprise internal developer platform — the CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, tooling and automation that hundreds of engineering teams and thousands of applications depend on to build, secure and release software.
This role operates as a peer to the DevOps Architect / Technical Manager. The Architect owns technical direction, architecture and line management of the engineering team; this role owns everything required to make that work land predictably — planning and sequencing, client and stakeholder communication, KPI and SLA performance, risk and dependency management, release and change governance, and the adoption and migration programmes that move hundreds of consuming teams onto new platform capability.
This is a technical project management role, not a generalist one. The successful candidate does not write production code, but is expected to read a pipeline definition, follow an incident timeline, understand why a build is failing, challenge an estimate on its merits, and hold a credible conversation with senior engineers without an interpreter.
Detailed Job Description:
• 6–10 years’ experience, including 4+ years in technical project or delivery management within DevOps, cloud, platform engineering, or application development and maintenance environments.
• Demonstrated ownership of delivery for a technical engineering team — not solely coordination or reporting on someone else’s plan.
• Strong functional understanding of the modern delivery stack: CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS), containers and Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (Terraform), source control and branching strategy, and code quality and security tooling.
• Ability to read a pipeline definition, follow an incident timeline, interpret monitoring data and challenge a technical estimate on its merits.
• Working familiarity with Java, Node.js and Python application delivery patterns, sufficient to understand team constraints and dependencies.
• Strong client-facing skills, with proven ability to convert technical updates into concise business-facing communication, reporting and dashboards.
• Deep working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and ITIL: incident, problem and change management, service level management, risk tracking and governance routines.
• Proven ability to define, capture and review KPIs and SLAs, and to drive corrective action with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Experience managing a large-scale migration, upgrade or adoption programme affecting many teams, including the communication and long-tail management that entails.
• Excellent written communication — status reports, decision records, escalation summaries and migration guides that people actually read.
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and competing senior stakeholders, and the judgement to know when to decide, when to escalate and when to hold
